PORTABLE APPLIANCE TESTING
PAT testing or portable appliance testing is an important part of Health & Safety policy. The Health & Safety Executive states that 25% of reported electrical accidents involve portable appliances. The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self-employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment.
This in effect requires the implementation of a systematic and regular programme of maintenance, inspection and testing. The Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) places such an obligation in the following circumstances:
1. Where appliances are used by employees.
2. Where the public may use appliances in establishments such as hospitals, schools, hotels, shops etc.
3. Where appliances are supplied or hired.
4. Where appliances are repaired or serviced.
The level of inspection and testing required is dependent upon the risk of the appliance becoming faulty, which is in turn dependent upon the type of appliance, the nature of its use and the environment in which it is used.
APPLIANCE TESTING
R.A.G. Support is a UK wide specialist PAT Testing Company. We provide a simple and cost effective solution, enabling all companies & organisations to comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations. We have been specialising in PAT testing across the UK for over 8 years.
Each appliance is comprehensively tested to meet the exacting requirements of the IEE code of practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. We use the latest computerised PAT testing equipment and are able to test all portable appliances in your company including - IT equipment, 415V & 110V.
REPORTS & CERTIFICATION
The inspection and testing will be carried out by a fully qualified electrical testing engineer, who will certify that the appliance conforms to the current required specification. A detailed report is then produced confirming the status of each appliance.
All technicians are fully trained in the IEE Wiring Regulations and our system ensures that you are provided with all the documentation and certification that you require, to demonstrate to any legislative body that you have fulfilled your obligations as an employer.
CONVENIENCE & REPAIR
All electrical equipment in order to be tested has to be disconnected from the mains supply. We realise the inconvenience that this can cause, especially in a busy working environment that is why we provide out of hours service at no extra cost.
Minor faults found during the course of the inspection can be repaired as we find them and re-test the appliance. More serious faults will always be quoted for first.
